BACK HOME
“Back home again, in Indiana”
Is appropriate plageurism for me.
It is the state song of my home state,
And it’s been a while since I was here.
Only in my dreams have I arrived on a bike,
But since I have, I couldn’t be more pleased.
Moon light through the Sycamores,
And sunshine on the Wabash River –
Memories that take me back nearly a lifetime.
Riding along the roads,
Seeing the Ohio River,
Seeing trees not seen for a long time,
Hearing sounds long lost,
And visiting towns seen only long ago.
Back home, again, in Indiana.
The past is wonderful, but one can’t live it –
The past is helpful for gives one roots –
The past is useful for it gives one knowledge –
But the past is the past, and tomorrow is another day!
