June 22, 2003 CAN YOU SEE THEM? We walked along this winding path, Not far from where we parked the bike. It leads off onto a grassy meadow, Cleared to hold the fort. The doors are open, And we are invited to see how lived the Corps. The rooms are small, but comfortable looking They each have a place for a fire. The boss sleeps low, the others high, And man tends the fire all night. The fort has three sides - easy to defend, And is heavily constructed of logs. You stand in the center, and look about - You almost see the Corps. Ron
