We're getting ready to leave Lowell. The store on the right had everything thing anyone would need for a stay in this beautiful area of Idaho, including hunting and fishing licenses.

The little band of fog was all we saw throughout the day. The morning was otherwise clear and the road was downhill or flat to Lewiston -- at least until we took the bike path 4 miles outside of Lewiston later in the afternoon.

The river was mostly on our left, changing over to our right when we reached Kamiah.

There were any number of these small bridges across the Clearwater. In addition there were at least 4 trams where the people had built homes on the south bank that had no road access. Their garages were on the north bank. .

The morning was just a glorious one -- we saw an osprey nest and I saw another Western Tanager.

These Idaho horses were really unphased by our passing them on the road.

As we approached Kooksia there were more outbuildings along the side of the road.

This rock outcropping was quite striking and caught my eye.

These two shots of the river were taken close together and were before we arrived in Orofino.

Riding by the river has made this day one of the most pleasant that we've had.

The railroad has also followed the river although we didn't see any trains.

This grain processing center is on the outskirts of Orofino, the county seat for Clearwater County.

This intersection shows the traffic from Grangemont as it comes into Orofino.

This rock outcropping was fairly typical for awhile.

This bridge is for the traffic on Hwy 95 that runs north/south.

Four miles outside of Lewiston we were able to cross over four lanes of traffic and follow a paved bike path into town. It did take us away from the highway most of the time and also ran next to the river for quite some time.

When this red-flowered plant is in large masses, the area looks quite alive. As we got down lower, the plant was more prevalent.

We're approaching Lowell and I took this photo with the camera pointed backward over my left shoulder.

The Wyman family have travelled from New York on two motorcycles. From left to right are Kim, Cody, Kyle, Travis and Bob. They'll head home after getting to the Pacific Coast and then attending a convention in Las Vegas. Cody sits in the side car of one of the motorcyles.

I sat for about 30 minutes at this spot on the river after we arrived and reflected on what a wonderful opportunity this trip has been.
