Mother Nature decided to deal us a surprise this morning in the form of a screaming Nor’easter. The winds were about 20 gusting to 30, and the rain was coming down in buckets. We were already required to take a vehicle over the William Preston Lane Bridge over the Chesapeake Bay (Maryland, Delaware law!), so in the interest of our safety, and because we didn’t have the flexibility to stay another night to wait out the weather, we decided to have the vehicle take us to our next stop. So, we are now back in Bethesda. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain, but only lightly, and for only half the day.
The funny of the day concerns our on-bike food. We miscalculated our requirements, so had to get an emergency shipment from Hammergel. Our first “care package” from Bill Anderson doesn’t reach us until Tuesday in Pittsburgh, and we didn’t want to go back on a Clifbar diet.
The answer to yesterday’s riddle: We went south to the next entry onto the freeway, closed our eyes while passing the “No Bikes” sign, and tried to merge with the traffic. We almost made it, but had to stop just short of the next left turn median break. We waited, and sure enough, a break in the traffic occurred, and we sprinted across the road. We made our left turn with a little room to spare, and had a little chuckle. It was fun being “like a car”.
